In the process of becoming one of the superfoods, Salmon is considered to be one of the most nutritious foods with its loads of nutrients.
An excellent source of the omega-3 fatty acids with its contents of eicosapentanoic acid (EPA), docosahexanoic acid (DHA), essential acids naturally occuring in oily fish. Every 100-gram serving of this fish provides 2.6 grams
of these, helping the body acquire the need for them as it cannot be produced by its own.
Definitely a more natural option than fish oil capsule supplements.
High-quality protein is also abundant in salmon, at least 20-30g a day is needed by the body for:
- a better bone health
- good maintainance of muscle mass (compatible with weight loss)
- healing after an injury
The bunch of B vitamins can be acquired from Salmon as well as, especially high in vitamin B12. They help in optimal brain and nervous system functions. These nutrients are also responsible in food conversion to energy, DNA repair and creation, and reducing inflammation.
It is also a good source of potassium, more than the equivalent in banana. This mineral helps prevent excess in water retention and control blood pressure, thus helps reduce risk of stroke.
The trace mineral selenium is highly present in the fish as well. This micronutrient basically helps protect bones, improve function of thyroid and reduce cancer risk.
Its coloring pigment indicates good content of antioxidant and Salmon is rich in Astaxanthin. This antioxidant helps in the general health of the skin, in slowing down aging processes (for younger-looking skin). It helps potentially as well in reducing bad cholesterol (LDL) and increasing the good one (HDL), thereby lowering the risk of heart disease.

For the decoration:
· 3 red bell pepper
For the tartare:
· 200gr of raw salmon
· 200gr of smoked salmon trout
· 1 lemon juice
· 1 spoon chopped dill
· 1 spoon chopped chive/spring onion
· 1 spoon chopped shallot
Lay the washed whole red bell peppers in a baking pan. Drizzle some olive oil and bake in the oven at 180C until the skin gets slightly brown. Turn them every 10 minutes to get the color all around. Once cooked, wait until they get cold to peel the skin. Open them lengthwise and empty the seeds. You can then either stuff them with the salmon tartare or use them as decoration for the verrines, cut in thin strips.
Cut the two salmons in small squares add all the spices and herbs and mix. Reserve in the chiller.
Dress the verrines with the red bell pepper and salmon mix, or spoon the mix over the skins. Serve!
