The bi-color Quinoa is among the few grains containing all nine essential amino acids, a plant-based complete protein source. Its top health benefit has to do with its insoluble fiber content. This keeps the digestive system healthy and provides satiety to the diet without extra calories. It also has a high amount of heart-healthy fats such as the Omega3 fatty acids, which are proven to help decrease the risk of death from heart attacks. These good fats may also lower bad cholesterol and blood pressure levels. Considered to be one of the superfoods, Quinoa is an outstanding source of vitamins and minerals. It particularly provides more iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and zinc compared to other grains. Furthermore, it has a high amount of flavonoids, a specific type of antioxidant, that is said to help prevent cancer, osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes, and reduce the risk factors of chronic diseases and of inflammation.
Similar to quinoa nutrition-wise, Buckwheat gives out a huge amount of amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. And this with relatively few calories and practically without fat. Compared to other grains, buckwheat has a unique composition of amino acids that gives it unique features such as cholesterol-lowering effects, anti-hypertension properties, and digestive health support as well as heart support and prevention of diabetes and digestive disorders.
