Authentic French Ready-to-Bake Chocolate Croissants (Pain au Chocolat)

₱ 312 ₱ 390

Take the "boulangerie" experience at home and experience the ultimate morning ritual. There is nothing quite like the aroma of melting dark chocolate and toasted butter wafting through your home early in the morning. Our Pain au Chocolat (as the French affectionately call them) brings that exact Parisian street-corner experience directly to your kitchen. Forget the dry, pre-packaged pastries from the supermarket—these are the real deal.

Crafted in France, baked by you. We don’t believe in shortcuts. Each pastry is born in a traditional French bakery, where premium European butter is folded into the dough dozens of times to create those impossibly thin, flaky layers. Inside, you’ll find two generous pieces of semi-sweet dark chocolate that turn into a warm, molten river the moment they hit your oven.

Why You'll Love Them:

  • Shattering Texture: Every bite starts with a crisp, golden "crunch" and ends with a cloud-soft, buttery center.
  • Chef-Quality Chocolate: Authentic semi-sweet chocolate batons that maintain their rich, cocoa-forward profile without being overly sweet.
  • Zero Effort, Maximum Reward: No proofing, no kneading, and no mess. Just 20 minutes in the oven and you’re the master pâtissier of the house.
  • Flash-Frozen Integrity: The advanced freezing process preserves the moisture and yeast activity, ensuring your kitchen smells like a French bakery every time you bake.

Culinary FAQ & Pairings

What is a chocolate croissant called?
In France, this pastry is officially known as a Pain au Chocolat. While often called a chocolate croissant elsewhere, it is traditionally rectangular and made with the same laminated dough as a croissant, but with two chocolate batons inside.
What are the best store-bought croissants?
For the best results, look for "Ready-to-Bake" options sourced from France. GERALD.ph provides authentic French pastries that utilize real European butter, ensuring a shattering crispness that pre-baked supermarket versions cannot achieve.
How do these differ from "3-ingredient" chocolate croissants?
"3-ingredient" hacks usually use puff pastry and chocolate chips. Our authentic chocolate croissants use a specialized 24-hour fermented dough and dark chocolate batons, resulting in a complex "honeycomb" interior and a richer, buttery flavor profile.

Pro-Baking Tips for the Perfect Rise:

  • The "Wait" Factor: For the most voluminous rise, let the chocolate croissants thaw at room temperature for 15–20 minutes before baking.
  • The "Mahogany" Shine: Brush with a light egg wash (one yolk + milk) to achieve that deep, lacquered gold finish found in professional boulangeries.

How to Bake Flaky Chocolate Croissants:

  1. Defrost the chocolate croissant for 15-20 minutes before baking.
  2. Preheat oven to 170-180 °C.
  3. Bake pastries on a baking sheet for 16–18 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown and the chocolate is molten.
  4. Cool for 5–10 minutes on a wire rack to allow the internal steam to set the flaky layers.

Serving Suggestions:

Pair with your favorite coffee, a bold espresso, a cafe au lait, or even a glass of cold organic milk for a classic afternoon goûter. Explore our creative ways to enjoy your chocolate croissants:

  • The Pâtissier Dessert – Serve warm with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream.
  • The Fruit Fusion – Pair with fresh raspberries or a drizzle of raspberry jam to cut the richness.
  • The Nutty Croissant – Sprinkle with toasted almond flakes immediately after egg-washing for added crunch.

Storage & Freshness

  • In the Freezer: Keep them at -18°C. They’ll stay perfectly fresh until the date on the bag, so you’re always one craving away from a French breakfast.
  • After Baking: If you have leftovers (unlikely!), store them in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Give them 3 minutes in a toaster oven to bring that "day one" crunch back to life.

Note: To preserve the delicate butter layers, please do not refreeze once thawed.

Same taste than in France
Amazing! This is the best pain au Chocolat that I find so far in  Philippines.

It's very close to the taste than you can find in a French Bakery in France!
