These mussels, cultivated in the pristine South Pacific waters, offer plump, sweet, and tender meat, making them a versatile shellfish that can be served hot or cold—perfect for gourmet meals. They can be baked, grilled, fried, barbecued, steamed, or used in curries, soups, and chowders.

Distinguished by their vibrant green shells and iridescent interiors, Greenshell™ Mussels feature two flesh colors: creamy-white for males and apricot-orange for females, each delivering visual appeal and exceptional flavor. These mussels are harvested from the pure South Pacific waters and rapidly snap-frozen to maintain peak freshness. These mussels, exclusively cultivated in New Zealand using suspended lines above the seabed, thrive in regions like the Marlborough Sounds, Coromandel, Golden Bay, and Stewart Island.

Recognized as a sustainable seafood choice, Greenshell™ Mussels are filter feeders, requiring no added nutrients, only taking them from the seawater.

Thawing

Conventional: place covered mussels in refrigerator for 8-10 hours.

Quick: run cold water over the plastic bag containing the mussels for 10-20 minutes.

Cooking

Mussels can be cooked from frozen. Thawing is recommended for best results.

After thawing:

Grill - 5-6 minutes
Bake - preheat oven to 160 °C (320 °F) and bake for 5-7 minutes
Steam - bring water to a boil, add mussels, replace lid, and steam for 3 minutes.
