Contrary to what its name suggests, buckwheat is not even closely related to wheat, not also a cereal nor grass but it is a fruit, related to rhubarb. Ground and finely-sifted buckwheat make a buckwheat flour that is a very versatile flour with earthy notes and a little nutty flavor.
