It goes also by the name of the great basil or Saint-Joseph's-wort, this culinary herb belongs to the family of mint. Typically used to season food bringing forth wonderful flavor to dishes.
Perfect to season over tomato sauce, quasi-fresh as it gets for salads, tomato dishes, meats, seafood, eggs, and herb butter. It also tantalizes the flavor into pesto and vinegars or superb sprinkles over salad or on any types of meat and vegetable dishes.

A teaspoon of basil leaves has more antioxidants than a cup of raw cabbage. It also contains different essential oils that are beneficial to the body, it is where its scent comes from.

How to Cook with Basil:
- Add near the end of cooking to retain flavor.
- Blend with olive oil, garlic, salt and sprinkles of pepper in a blender and add the mixture to give a kick of flavor to cooked pasta dishes, stews, soups, or sauces.
- Add a teaspon of this organic basil to one cup of boiling water, leave for 10 minutes then strain, drink while hot 3x a day for better health.
- It is a good substitute to oregano or thyme.

Storage: Store in a cool, dark cupboard, away from heat, direct sunlight, and moisture.

Tomato Basil Spaghetti
1 pack Barilla spaghetti pasta
1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
3 cups tomatoes, sliced
2-3 tsp Organic basil
4 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper
Cook spaghetti pasta according to package. Sprinkle with basil (a little only) at the near end of cooking.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
Sauté onions until soft then add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
Add the tomatoes and half of the cheese and season with salt and pepper, cook for around 2 minutes.
Add the basil and allow to simmer for a few minutes.
Once cooked, pour mixture over cooked pasta.
Season with salt and another small sprinkle of basil.
Garnish with the rest of the grated Parmesan cheese.
